The Alton Towers Waterpark is a heated indoor lagoon, packed with aquatic activities for all the family. Days out here include fun areas of shallow water and games for younger children, together with exhilarating slides, rides and chutes for their older brothers and sisters, and a relaxing tropical spring for mum and dad to get their breath back!
Your water babies will love the Little Leak – a shallow, brightly lit pool perfect for very young children to paddle and slide. Five-year-olds and over can frolic to their heart's content in the Bubble Pools, while the Wacky Waterworks Tree House has an astonishing 70 interactive features.

There's more than one way to enjoy a day out for families at the Alton Towers Resort. There's the Theme Park and its thrilling rollercoaster rides. There's the splashing good fun of the Waterpark. And there's also a Sightseeing Day Out, where you can take in some of the most spectacular scenic gardens in England and visit the fascinating historic Towers which gave us our name.

So if your family day out includes the Alton Towers gardens, you'll be visiting an attraction that dates back around two centuries! The gardens began to be landscaped around the turn of the 19th century by Charles, the 15th Earl of Shrewsbury, whose family previous owned the site of Alton Towers. Charles had ponds and canals installed and sought out the advice of the most famous landscape gardeners of the time.

The gardens have continued to be beautifully shaped and tended in the 200 years since, making them a delightful venue to enjoy a Sightseeing Day Out with the family. As well as the lush, rolling lawns and the stunning flower beds, there are several lovely features, including an attractive Chinese-style pagoda dating from the 1830s. Visit the elegant Swiss Cottage, marvel at the Grand Conservatories and enjoy the attractive fountains – all as part of your family day out at Alton Towers.

From the arrival of the Earls of Shrewsbury in 1412, right back to the camp built here in the Iron Age, many buildings have existed on this site since long before the theme park arrived.
