Design and Technology in Action

Focusing on Planning, Structures, Motion/Mechanisms, Systems and Controls - this is a resource from Alton Towers to support the National Curriculum for Design and Technology at Key Stages 3 and 4.

Alton Towers has developed its Design and Technology in Action initiative with the aim of bringing text book theories to life using the rides at the Park to demonstrate the planning processes, structures, motion/mechanisms and systems and controls.

NEW for 2010 TH13TEEN Workshop and resource

Introducing a brand-new attraction and keeping it top-secret until its launch isn’t an easy task especially when it’s the first of its kind. In this exciting new talk we’ll discuss the practicalities of launching a new ride and use THI3TEEN as our case study. We’ll explore how the ride was designed and built before looking at its place within Alton Towers Resort and how we devised the whole marketing campaign behind it. An on-site demonstration for your students is, of course, a must!
