    Are there areas of shade for pupils attending during the summer?

    Shaded areas are provided throughout the Park.

    Are all children issued with a Theme Park map in case they get lost?

    Resort maps are issued and available to all guests on admission to the Theme Park.

    Is the food in the canteen clearly labelled?

    Yes food at the Theme Park is clearly labelled in accordance with trading requirements.

    Is there a team of trained staff members on-hand at all time and briefed in emergency and/or first aid procedures?

    Alton Towers Resort has a comprehensive emergency plan that has been developed in conjunction with the emergency services. Staff are trained in what to do in an emergency.

    Does the Theme Park expose children to water?

    Some rides at Alton Towers expose children to water. These are The Flume, Congo River Rapids, Splash Kart Challenge, Riverbank Eye Spy and Ripsaw.

    Are the rides/attractions inspected on a daily basis for any hazards?

    All rides undergo rigorous testing every day by competent engineers in accordance with manufacturers guidance. Rides also undergo a comprehensive winter check by third party inspection engineers to ensure that they are safe for the following season.

    What are the medical provisions on-site?

    The Theme Park has a First Aid Centre. These are permanently staffed by fully qualified first aiders throughout the season. The location of the First Aid Centre is marked on the Resort map.

    "Are there any steep slopes children would have to climb? If so, are there hand-rails to assist them?"

    Handrails are provided where necessary. There are no steep slopes at the Theme Park.

    Is there an evacuation procedure?

    The Theme Park has a procedure in place to evacuate guests safely. This will be implemented by fully trained staff.

    Do any of the rides or attractions feature strobe lighting?

    Yes a few of the attractions at the Park feature strobe lighting. This information can be found on signage at the entrance to each ride.

    "Are there any steps to negotiate? If so, are there alternative routes for wheelchair guests?"

    Steps may need to be negotiated around the Theme Park. Disabled access is provided where necessary.

    Is the Park clearly sign-posted?

    Yes the Theme Park is well sign-posted along with comprehensive detail on the Resort map.

    Are there any traffic hazards. If so how are these minimised?

    The Theme Park is closed to vehicular traffic movement whilst open to the public. There are designated drop-off points for coaches at the Alton Towers Resort. There is no requirement for children to cross any busy public roads although children will be required to cross internal Park roads to access the admissions area. Pedestrian walkways are provided where possible.
