Extra talks
Secondary school trips at the Alton Towers Resort are complimented with a range of talks and discussions that go hand-in-hand with the paper-based online resources in order to help you get the most out of your visit to the resort.
Pupils are given the opportunity to take part in a selection of educational activities that have been supported by the National Curriculum and that are specifically aimed at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5.
For example, the Rollercoaster’s and Relativity talk begins with some ride terminology discussing different rollercoaster elements, like a loop or zero-G roll. We then move onto gravity and how it affects the riders. Positive and negative G-forces are discussed along with their effects on the human body.
School Resources
With the help of practicing teachers, we have developed a range of imaginative and stimulating classroom resources to support the National Curriculum for Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. We are introducing a new workshop and resource around our ultimate new rollercoaster launch TH13TEEN.
Resouces will be supplied to each school free of charge upon booking a secondary school trip to the Alton Towers Resort.
Design and Technology in Action
Focusing on Planning, Structures, Motion/Mechanisms, Systems and Controls - this is a resource from Alton Towers to support the National Curriculum for Design and Technology at Key Stages 3 and 4.
Alton Towers has developed its Design and Technology in Action initiative with the aim of bringing text book theories to life using the rides at the Park to demonstrate the planning processes, structures, motion/mechanisms and systems and controls.
TH13TEEN Workshop and resource
Introducing a brand-new attraction and keeping it top-secret until its launch isn’t an easy task especially when it’s the first of its kind. In this exciting new talk we’ll discuss the practicalities of launching a new ride and use THI3TEEN as our case study. We’ll explore how the ride was designed and built before looking at its place within Alton Towers Resort and how we devised the whole marketing campaign behind it. An on-site demonstration for your students is, of course, a must!
