Alton Towers: More than a Theme Park

Alton Towers: More than a Theme Park

Alton Towers is renowned for being the UK’s biggest theme park. But, in a 500-acre resort in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside, there are plenty of alternative activities to explore.

From days out with the kids at our indoor waterpark, to luxurious weekends at the Alton Towers Spa, there’s something for everyone.

Visit Alton Towers all year round to explore the alternative activities on offer. Or combine our range of things to do with a theme park short break.

Family Days Out with the Kids Alton Towers Resort is a premier location for days out with kids of any age.

A Half Day Out with a Difference

If you’re pushed for time, why not arrive at Alton Towers a little later? Come for the afternoon and host a family tournament at the Extraordinary Golf course. You can enjoy our crazy golf course without booking a theme park ticket or short break and we’re less than an hour from Stoke on Trent. Compete with family and friends around either 9 holes or 18 to find a champion.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head for dinner at the Rollercoaster Restaurant. Watch your meal loop-the-loop and spiral towards your table. It’s a unique dining experience to round off a special day out.

Children’s Birthday Parties

Why not plan your child’s next birthday party at Alton Towers Resort? We host unforgettable birthday parties at our splashtastic waterpark or on the green at the Extraordinary Golf Course. Kids love our wacky activities, delicious food and all the treats and prizes included in the party package.

Sharkbait Reef by SEA LIFE

If you do visit Alton Towers theme park, remember to check out the alternative activities amongst the rides. In the heart of the theme park’s Mutiny Bay is our very own nature reserve: an interactive, tropical aquarium. Kids of all ages love the chance to get up close with colourful sea creatures and exotic fish. Entry to the SEALIFE aquarium is included within a theme park ticket (and it’s a very popular destination to shelter from the rain!).

Alton Towers Dungeons

As part of a theme park day out, why not visit the Alton Towers Dungeon? This hilarious historical live show includes gruesome scenes and loud screams. Learn anecdotes from Staffordshire’s history and get up close with ghosts from the past. Alton Towers latest dungeon attraction is suitable for children aged 10 and up, and grown ups with a strong stomach!

Tour the Historic Grounds

During the winter months, when the theme park is closed for the season, guests love the opportunity to take a guided tour of our gardens. Alton Towers park gardens have stood on the site for over two hundred years. Garden tours provide an insight into the Grade I listed grounds, allowing you to admire your surroundings and to slip back in time.

Grown Up Getaways

With over 40 rides and attractions, plus a wide range of accommodation and things to do, Alton Towers Resort is certainly not just for kids!

Relaxing Spa Break

Alton Towers Spa is the perfect location for a relaxing getaway. Treat yourself to some ‘me time’, enjoy luxury treatments with friends, or relax with a romantic spa package for couples. The Spa is home to a full suite of Aqua Relaxation Rooms, designed to gently adjust your body temperature whilst awakening your senses. We even offer special packages to enjoy a spa day with your kids! Introduce young teens to their first luxurious massage or mani-pedi experience. Complete with lunch or afternoon tea, our spa packages offer the perfect day out.

Waterpark Escapes

Midweek during school term times, the Alton Towers Waterpark is the perfect place to relax and float. Grab a rubber ring and head to the Lazy River. Or unwind in the scenic Bubbly Wubbly jacuzzi pool. Our indoor waterpark is the perfect tropical escape, all year around.

Adults love our wild waterpark from Sunday-Thursday, throughout the year. Enjoy an overnight stay, a scrumptious breakfast, a day in the waterpark and a round of extraordinary golf. Book online for unbeatable midweek offers.

Special Events

Alton Towers Resort hosts a range of special events throughout the year. The theme park transforms each October for our annual Scarefest halloween event. Beyond facing your favourite rides in the dark, Scarefest includes a series of terrifying themed mazes and unique interactive experiences. Experience the UK’s biggest theme park like you’ve never seen it before!

We also celebrate Guy Fawkes night each year with our Ultimate Fireworks Spectacular. Guests love the chance to be amongst the last rollercoaster riders of the season, before witnessing a sensational display.

Bed & Breakfast Short Break

Why not experience everything that Alton Towers Resort has to offer by extending your day out into a theme park short break? Our B&B package makes it easy to mix and match your activities for a fun-filled getaway. After a day at the theme park, wake up to a Caribbean adventure at the Alton Towers Waterpark. Or destress from a day of thrill seeking with a full body massage at our spa.
