Alton Towers Gardens
We’re delighted to be reopening our Gardens from Saturday 6th June, following the Government’s decision to allow outdoor paid attractions to now open.
Our phased reopening plans are in accordance with the UK Government in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and in line with the reopening of attractions with open grounds and parks. We will reopen under limited capacity with reduced hours of operation and will continue to look at these measures on a daily basis.
To ensure we keep everyone safe, tickets will need to be pre-booked online, please scroll down for ticket options and Passholder pre-booking.
The health and safety of our guests and staff is always our number one priority and we have therefore introduced a number of additional hygiene and safety measures which you’ll see in place when you visit. For more information, click here.
Our rides and attractions, and all the Resort accommodation, will remain closed for now.
For now, scroll down to see what to expect on your visit.
We can’t wait to see you soon!
The Alton Towers Gardens will be open to guests from 6th June. The Gardens form part of our 550 acres site, and are steeped in history and hidden gems. Laid out by Charles Talbot, 15th Earl of Shrewsbury, over 150 years ago, they have many fantastic features installed including the Pagoda fountain and the fantastic Conservatory, which has undergone a £1.9m restoration in the past few years.
The Gardens have been open to the public in one form or another since 1839, but are often overlooked by guests as they rush from one ride to another. We are delighted to have this opportunity to offer guests the chance to enjoy the Gardens in and of themselves.
Please note that the paths in our Gardens are steep in places, so to make the most of your visit and explore all areas we do suggest that you bring practical footwear. For any specific enquiries about access, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
All of our rides and attractions, and all Resort accommodation, will remain temporarily closed due to the latest Government restrictions and guidelines (issued on the 10th May) and public health guidance in response to the Covid-19 outbreak.
Some areas of the Theme Park are therefore closed to visitors for the safety of our guests, but there is still much to enjoy in our Gardens including the Pagoda fountain and the fantastic Conservatory, which has undergone a £1.9m restoration in the past few years.
We have implemented enhanced cleaning regimes in line with government guidance, which will be taking place throughout the day seeking to disinfect those points most touched, such as tables and chairs, service counters, door handles and taps.
The Gardens will be open from 10am until 4pm, with last entry at 2pm.
Guests will be able to purchase hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice creams when visiting the Gardens, and are also welcome to bring a picnic. We do politely ask that no alcohol is included, and that all litter is disposed of in the bins provided. Barbecues are not permitted.
Please note we will only be accepting card payments.
Only guests with pre-booked tickets will be allowed to gain entry into the Gardens. These areas are running on a limited capacity to ensure the health and safety of all of our guests and staff, and as such any guests who do not have a pre-booked ticket will not be allowed entry.

Picnics are welcome at Alton Towers Resort. Please help us to keep you safe by staying together in your group, social distancing at all times and ensuring any litter is put in the bins provided. We do politely ask that no alcohol is included in your picnic, and barbecues are not permitted.
Refreshments will also be available to purchase a variety of refreshments and snacks, including hot and cold drinks and ice-creams.
Unfortunately pets or animals of any nature are prohibited at Alton Towers Resort (except for guide dogs, hearing dogs and registered assistance dogs) and, for the avoidance of doubt, should not be left in any vehicle parked at the Resort.
Unfortunately we are not able to reopen The Towers at this time, and some areas of the park theme park will be closed to visitors for their own safety, including CBeebies Land, X Sector, Fountain Square and the Dark Forest.
Our rides and attractions remain temporarily closed due to the latest Government restrictions and guidelines (issued on the 10th May) and public health guidance in response to the Covid-19 outbreak. Our Gardens will only be available to those who pre-book tickets in advance.
Yes, we will be conducting temperature checks on all our guests and employees as they arrive at the Resort. In the event that a group of guests is not permitted entry to the Gardens, we will gladly rebook your visit when convenient and at no additional cost. Our Gardens will have a strictly limited capacity and anyone looking to visit must have pre-booked tickets before arriving at Alton Towers Resort.
Your pre-booked tickets will be checked on arrival at Admissions. Please wait patiently and show your documents to be scanned when asked.
Once on site we’ll have set up the best routes for you to follow to avoid crowds or queuing. Please pay attention to the new signage around the grounds, which will tell you important safety information and highlight social distancing measures, such as floor stickers at a 2m distance.
Hand sanitiser will be provided at various points throughout the grounds and gardens.
Our toilet facilities by Admissions and in Mutiny Bay will be open for guests. We have introduced new measures within these facilities to ensure spatial distancing, please pay attention to the new signage on display there.
Tickets to visit the Alton Towers Gardens will be £12 for adults and £5 for children (children under 3 are free of charge). There is no charge for parking. Entry will be free to Merlin Annual Passholders and Alton Towers Season Passholders, however they will be required to pay a nominal (£1) booking fee to secure their place. This is to ensure that we can stick to our capacity limits and manage the safe flow of guests around the Gardens.
We are asking passholders to pay a nominal £1 booking fee to pre-book their ticket, even though entry to the Gardens is free. This is to help us manage the number guests visiting each day. This is similar to the pre-booking system we use each year for our Fireworks events.
