THEME PARK REGULATIONS
Alton Towers Resort, together with its owner, Merlin Entertainments Group, places great importance on the safety of its visitors and endeavours to ensure that the high standards set by the company, are complied with by all those on the Theme Park. We are only prepared to allow entry to the Theme Park to those visitors who are willing to comply with the Theme Park Regulations set out below.
We are sure that you will wish to assist us in ensuring the Theme Park and facilities therein remain a safe place in which to enjoy a fun-filled experience. To assist in ensuring your safety, CCTV is in operation throughout the Theme Park.
1 All persons entering Alton Towers Resort are admitted subject to the following Theme Park Regulations. Any person who does not comply with these Regulations may be removed from the Theme Park by either Alton Towers Security Personnel or Police Officers. This without prejudice to any claim that the Park may have against such a person or persons arising out of their actions. Whilst inside the Park, all visitors must comply with any instructions given to them by Security, Park Personnel or Police Officers.
2 Alton Towers Resort reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to refuse admission to the Theme Park, ban from entry to the Theme Park or remove from the Theme Park any person who:-
2.1 Has been convicted of a criminal offence, which, in the opinion of Alton Towers Resort, is likely to affect the enjoyment of other visitors;
2.2 Has behaved in the Theme Park in a manner, which, in the opinion of Alton Towers Resort, has, or is likely to affect the enjoyment of other visitors
2.3 Uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or in any way provokes or behaves in a manner, which may provoke a breach of the peace.
2.4 Does not follow the written or verbal safety instructions of each ride or attraction or behaves in a manner which may endanger the safety of the individual or other visitors on the ride/attraction (e.g. undoing belts, standing up or splashing).
3. All persons entering the Theme Park must pay for admission or hold a valid admission ticket that must be retained at all times and submitted for inspection if required by Security. Any person attempting to gain admission to the Theme Park or being found inside the Theme Park without a valid admission ticket may be ejected from the Theme Park.
4. No child or children under the age of 12 will be admitted to the Theme Park unless they are accompanied by an adult who shall be 18 years or over and such child or children whilst on site must remain under the control or supervision of an adult at all times.
5. No dogs except guide dogs or other pets of any kind shall be allowed on the Theme Park.
6. To prevent offensive weapons or dangerous articles from being taken into the Theme Park, visitors are admitted to the Theme Park subject to a condition that, if requested to do so, they will allow themselves to be searched. It is prohibited to bring into the Theme Park any weapons, fireworks, smoke bombs, glass bottles or other articles, which may cause injury. The throwing of any article, which could cause injury or annoyance is strictly prohibited.
7. The consumption of intoxicating liquors is permitted only in authorised places and in accordance with the Licensing Act 2003. Accordingly, intoxicating liquor must not be taken into the Theme Park and any persons found possessing alcohol, or who appear to be under the influence of alcohol will be refused admission or escorted from the Theme Park.
8. Alton Towers Resort will endeavour to ensure that as many rides and attractions as possible are available for use by visitors. We may, however, without prior notice and without refund or compensation, change the operating hours of the Theme Park or attractions, close the Theme Park or any part of it temporarily, restrict the number of persons having access to the Theme Park, and/or suspend or cancel any attraction or entertainment programme, due to capacity, inclement weather or special events, to ensure safety, security or order, or if we consider that the circumstances so require.
9. All rides, attractions, amusements, transport systems and other facilities must only be used in accordance with the operator's instructions.
10. Unnecessary noise (such as that from the use of radio sets and other electrical equipment), or any behaviour likely to cause annoyance to other visitors or confusion of any kind is not permitted in any part of the Theme Park.
11. The climbing of or standing upon fences, barriers, walls, ride structures, or buildings is strictly prohibited.
12. Only persons authorised by Alton Towers Resort are permitted to sell or offer for sale any items to visitors within the Theme Park boundaries.
13. Alton Towers Resort accepts no responsibility for any loss and/or damage however arising (including that which might arise as a result of any breach of contract) including any distress, inconvenience or anxiety caused during the course of any ride undertaken and/or during evacuation from such a ride in the event of breakdown.
14. Admission tickets are non-transferable, non-exchangeable, non-refundable and void if altered. They are not valid for special events that require a separate admission charge.
15. From time to time Alton Towers Resort or other authorised parties carry out photography and/or video recording in the Theme Park, which may feature visitors. By accepting these Regulations, you agree that Alton Towers Resort or any authorised party may use such images in perpetuity in any promotional, advertising or publicity material in any format whatsoever. You further agree that copyright in these materials rests with Alton Towers Resort or such authorised party (as the case may be).
16. Smoking is strictly prohibited within the Alton Towers Resort, with the exception of designated smoking areas (see resort map for locations).
17. The wearing of clothing, which in the opinion of Alton Towers Resort, is offensive to other visitors is not permitted. Shoes and shirts must be worn at all times. Some attractions require flat shoes (i.e. not stilettos).
These Regulations are for the benefit of all our visitors and will be strictly enforced.
Theme Park Booking Conditions
Tickets must be booked at least 2 days in advance.
Guests are admitted to the park subject to the park regulations which are displayed at the main entrance to the park, a copy of which is available on request.
The rides and attractions are open until November 1st 2009. During this time the management of Alton Towers will attempt to ensure that as many rides and attractions as possible are open for use by guests. However Alton Towers reserves the right to alter or change the programme of rides and attractions if at any time it is deemed necessary to do so. Height and all other ride restrictions still apply
Tickets are not transferable and accordingly may not be sold or passed to any third party. All persons entering the park must have a valid entrance ticket which must be retained during your visit.
Fastrack tickets: These ticket allow the bearer one ride on each of the rides listed. The bearer must comply with the ride health and safety restriction notices and multiple rides will not be allowed. Height restrictions of 1.4m apply on Nemesis, Oblivion & Air. All rides are subject to availability.
A child is aged between 4 and 11 years inclusive. An adult is aged 12 years and over. Children under 4years old enter Alton Towers free of charge.
Please note open dated tickets are not valid for special events.
Alton Towers reserves the right to transfer tickets to another date at any time or offer an alternative ride in case of ride breakdown.
Please note height restrictions apply on most rides.
Those purchasing disabled tickets will be asked to produce proof of disability, for example Blue Badge holders or a letter from the DWP with photographic identification. For more information on our disability policy please visit the Disabled Access Section on altontowers.com.
Please note that tickets purchased on-line are discounted. For on the day rates please visit AltonTowers.com and check before your visit. All ticket prices displayed here are only available when making a booking on-line.
Please allow 6 days for delivery in the UK. Tickets will be dispatched up to 5 days from visit, after this date they will be held for collection at the Admissions Reception.
Tickets are non refundable.

Within 7 days of making your booking we shall send you a Reservation Confirmation.
Please read these terms and conditions carefully as they form the contract between you and us. By clicking the button below you are confirming that you have read and accepted the terms and conditions. The person that books the stay and accepts terms and conditions does so on behalf of, and with the consent of, all persons in the party. Should you make a booking with us on behalf of a third party you will be held jointly and severally responsible to us for the total cost of the services/products booked.
1. Special Requests
Any special requests with regard to rooms need to be made at the time of making your booking. Alton Towers Hotels will use its reasonable endeavors to accommodate such requests, although these cannot be guaranteed. Some requests may incur extra charges payable direct to the hotel.
2. Payment
When a booking is made more than 30 days ahead of arrival date:
a) Payment for on line bookings must be made for the total cost of your stay immediately by credit or debit card
b) For telephone bookings a deposit payment of 50% of the total cost of your stay, along with full payment of any extras pre-booked, is required within 14 days of making your telephone reservation
The balance must be paid 30 days before the date of your arrival.
Please note that your theme park tickets and arrival pack will not be issued until full payment has been received. Once we have received the payment requested, your booking will be confirmed.
When a booking is made less than 30 days ahead of arrival date:
a) Payment for on line bookings must be made for the total cost of your stay immediately by credit or debit card
b) Payment for telephone bookings must be made for the total cost of your stay immediately by credit or debit card
Any extras incurred during your stay such as dinner etc will need to be settled on departure from the hotel. If a credit or debit card has been provided on check in then any such amounts will be debited on departure.
3. Credit and Debit Card Payments
Credit and debit card payments will normally be authorised and charged to your account the same day or next working day. No receipts will be sent.
You may authorise us to charge the balance payment to the same credit or debit card on the balance due date by either advising Reservations at the time of making the booking or telephoning Reservations on 0871 222 1100*.
4. Other Payment Methods
All cheques and postal orders sent by post must be made payable to Alton Towers Hotels and have the reservation number written on the reverse and be accompanied by the signed Payment Form.
VAT at the rate of 15% is included in the price, although we reserve the right to amend prices if there is any change in VAT rates.
5. Refunds
Where a refund is to be made by Alton Towers Hotels, payments made by credit or debit cards will be refunded via the same card number less any non-refundable deposit and any other non-refundable amount. All other payments will be refunded by cheque made payable to the person named on the Reservation Confirmation.
6. Amendments & Cancellations
If, for any reason, you would like to amend your booking after it has been confirmed we will do our best to assist you. If you wish to amend your booking and provide us with more than 7 days notice prior to arrival date then no charge will be made. If you wish to amend your booking and provide us with less than 7 days notice then the cancellation charges as detailed below will apply. However, you may transfer your booking into someone else's name provided we are advised of, and are in agreement with, the changes, for which there is no administration fee payable.
If, for any reason, you have to cancel your stay you should contact Reservations immediately on 0871 222 1100*. You will be given a cancellation number, which you should record. The reasons for any such cancellations will be considered sympathetically and, if requested by you, we will attempt to offer you a stay on an alternative date.
Please note that any change of date will be likely to involve a change in price of your stay. You must pay us any increase due immediately, any refund due we will pay as per our refunds policy detailed above.
If you do not want to stay at another time and wish to cancel a booking, or if you alter your booking with less than 7 days notice prior to your scheduled arrival date, the following charges will apply:-

Alton Towers Hotels reserves the right to make alterations to a booking but to no lesser value or quality. The customer will be notified in writing as soon as is reasonably practicable of any such alteration.
7. Cancellation Insurance
We strongly recommend you take out cancellation insurance against your booking. If you are interested in taking out cancellation insurance please contact: Travellers Protection Services Limited, 1 Prince of Wales Road, Norwich, NR1 1AW. Telephone 0870 77 44 053 for immediate cover.
8. Your Security
Your stay is being provided by Alton Towers Hotels. We are required, by law, to provide insurance in the event of the insolvency of Tussauds Hotels Limited. If your stay is affected by such insolvency, you will be entitled to a refund of monies paid by you. Our insurance details are as follows: Marsh Insurance, Marsh Ltd, Tower Place, Lower Thames Street, London, EC3R 5BU. A Certificate of Insurance is available on request.
9. Behaviour Policy
Your behaviour should not be excessive or rowdy, especially at night. Offensive or illegal behaviour will not be tolerated and could lead to eviction from the Alton Towers Resort. You must show consideration for your neighbours and other guests. Please treat accommodation and facilities with respect and care so that other guests may continue to enjoy them. We reserve the right to recover from you any compensation we may pay to other guests as a result of your action.
10. Large/Group Bookings
We require large groups of 15 guests or above, school/college parties and all male/ or female groups to apply in writing, addressed for the attention of the Advanced Sales Manager, before a reservation can be made. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to refuse any booking, including a group booking.
11. School Parties
We require school parties, to have at least 1 member of staff to every 8 children, to stay at the Hotel.
12. Rooming Lists
Guest Rooming lists must be received at least 7 days prior to arrival at the Hotel.
13. Liabilities
The Alton Towers Resort shall not be liable for:-
A) Any damage or loss of any property or items belonging to the guest.
B) Personal injury to the guests (but only so far as such injury is not caused by Alton Towers' negligence)
14. Accommodation
Bedroom accommodation is available from 3.00pm on the day of your arrival, and must be vacated by 10.00am on the day of departure. The Organiser shall ensure that all occupants of such bedrooms shall be made aware of the emergency fire procedures, which apply at the Hotel (and a copy of which is displayed in each bedroom and will be made available upon request). All bedrooms and bedroom corridors within Alton Towers Hotel are strictly non-smoking areas.
No wines, spirits or other drinks or food can be brought into either the Park or the Hotel, without prior written agreement with the Hotel.
15. Guest Feedback
If you feel dissatisfied with any aspect of your stay with us, please speak to the Guest Services Manager within the hotel. In most cases, we will be able to help you immediately so you can enjoy the rest of your stay.
Where this is not the case, you must ensure that you record the details with the Guest Services Manager and then you should write, no later than 21 days after your departure, from the Alton Towers Hotel, letters to be addressed to Guest Relations Manager. All letters must be sent by the lead booking name of the reservation, as replies will only be addressed to this person.
16. Park Regulations
All persons entering the Theme Park are admitted subject to the Park Regulations, which are displayed at the entrance to the Park, and on this page, a copy of which is available upon request.
17. Important Notice
The information contained on Alton Towers website and our booking system is believed to be correct. However, we are unable to accept responsibility for any errors or omissions and reserve the right to amend any part of it if such alterations are thought to be necessary. In particular, we reserve the right to change the prices without prior notice provided that such changes are notified to you before you book your stay. The photographs reproduced on the website and online booking system are intended to give a general impression of the Alton Towers Resort and what you may expect from your stay. We will attempt to ensure that as many rides and attractions as possible are open for use by you during your stay. However we reserve the right to alter the programme of rides and attractions if, at any time, it is deemed necessary or appropriate to do so.
The Alton Towers Resort will make every effort to notify the booker of any such delay with as much notice as possible, and make every effort to amend bookings to a mutually satisfactory date. However if we are unable to accommodate at an alternative date, then any payments made will be refunded in full. The Alton Towers Resort reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to refuse entry, and to close and/or alter any part of the facilities.
Alton Towers Waterpark: Please ensure there is one adult (16yrs+) in the water to supervise every child under 5 in your party, or one adult per every 2 children between 5 and 9 years. Entry will be refused if this adult/child safety ratio is not met.
Please note that our Spa Facilities are suitable for guests aged over 16 years only. This includes guests booked on Spa Break Packages.

Merlin Annual Pass
By purchasing a Merlin Entertainments Group individual or Family Annual Pass ("Annual Pass") you accept these Terms and Conditions of use. Purchase and use of the Annual Pass is in accordance with the Park Regulations of each individual Attraction, copies of which are displayed at the Attractions or can be obtained online at www.merlinentertainments.biz or by telephoning 08714 232230. Merlin Annual Pass Terms and Conditions AN ANNUAL PASS WILL ONLY BE VALID WHEN USED AND/OR PRESENTED BY THE NAMED HOLDER AND WHEN DISPLAYING A PHOTOGRAPH WHICH MUST BE A TRUE LIKENESS OF THE HOLDER. PHOTOCOPIES OF THE ANNUAL PASS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. MISUSE WILL RESULT IN THE ANNUAL PASS BEING CONFISCATED WITHOUT RETURN. 1. The Merlin Entertainments Group Attractions that are part of the Annual Pass scheme are: Alton Towers Resort, LEGOLAND® Windsor, THORPE PARK, Chessington World of Adventures & Zoo, Madame Tussauds (London), London Eye, Warwick Castle, SEA LIFE Centres & Sanctuaries and the Dungeons (“Attractions”). 2. Each Annual Pass holder will be issued his or her own Annual Pass. 3. A Family of 4 means either two individuals 12 years of age and over and two individuals under 12 years of age, or one individual 12 years of age and over and three individuals under 12 years of age. A Family of 5 means two individuals 12 years of age and over and three individuals under 12 years of age, or one individual 12 years of age and over and four individuals under 12 years of age. The Annual Pass entitles the holder to admission to the Attractions during opening hours for a period of 12 months from the date of issue (“Validity Period”). Please check individual Attraction opening and closing dates and times before visit. Please note that not all Attractions are open all year. The Merlin Entertainments Group, in its absolute discretion, reserves the right to vary the opening and closing dates and times of the Attractions and to close, remove or cancel all or any part of the rides, events or facilities within the Attractions for any reason including, but not being limited to technical, health and safety and/or operational reasons or due to special events or private functions. For the avoidance of doubt, the full value or any part of the value of the Annual Pass will not be refunded nor will any compensation be payable if any of the Attractions are no longer available or if any or part of the Attractions are removed or closed during the year. 5. An agreement to pay for the Annual Pass by instalments is subject to you committing to pay for the entire price of the Annual Pass over the period of a year. Payments by instalments are due regardless of how often the Annual Pass is used. In the event of a payment default: 5.1. entrance to the Attractions will be denied and the Annual Pass confiscated; 5.1.1. you will immediately pay the full amount due and all outstanding amounts shall accrue interest at 1% over the prime rate charged by the issuing Attraction's banker from time to time; 5.2. you shall be liable for all tracing fees, collection commission and legal costs as may be allowed by the courts if it is necessary for the issuing Attraction to institute legal proceedings against you arising from a breach of these terms and conditions, including but not being limited to, your failure to pay any amount due by the due date; 5.3. the issuing Attraction may disclose your personal particulars to a credit reference agency or any other party necessarily involved in obtaining settlement of arrears. 6. An Annual Pass is only valid for daytime entry to Warwick Castle. 7. Additional charges apply for entry into: 7.1. any concerts taking place at an Attraction; 7.2. any themed special events taking place at an Attraction; 7.3. any area within an Attraction for which an entrance fee is charged in addition to the basic entrance fee for the Attraction, including but not being limited to the Ghost Tower at Warwick Castle; 7.4. all Christmas event openings; and 7.5. any other event as determined by The Merlin Entertainments Group from time to time. 8. Annual Pass restrictions apply, including entry into Madame Tussauds (London), The London Eye and London Dungeons during the whole of August being limited to after 3pm only, and no entry to Madame Tussauds (London), The London Eye and London Dungeons on 14th February or between 26th – 31st December. The Annual Pass may not be used for the River Cruise. 9. The authorised holder of the Annual Pass must show the Annual Pass at the admissions office of the relevant Attraction. 10. All Annual Passes remain the property of The Merlin Entertainments Group. Annual Passes are non-transferable and cannot be sold, loaned or given away to or used by a third party. Access may be denied to any or all Attractions in the event of fraud or misuse of the Annual Pass, and the Annual Pass can be withdrawn from any person whose conduct is deemed to be inappropriate in the absolute discretion of The Merlin Entertainments Group. Inappropriate conduct includes, but is not limited to, allowing or assisting a third party to attempt to gain unauthorised or improper access to any Attraction with an Annual Pass of which they are not the valid holder. For the avoidance of doubt no refund will be given in such circumstances. 11. The management of the relevant Attraction reserves the right to refuse admission for any reason as provided by each Attraction's regulations including, but not being limited to, the Attraction reaching full capacity. 12. Failure to present a valid Annual Pass will result in a charge of the “on the day” admission rate applicable to the relevant Attraction, which will be non-refundable. Re-entry to the same Attraction on the same day requires a hand stamp. 13. Annual Passes cannot be used in conjunction with any promotional offer, voucher or advance booking or with any other offer, discount or retail/restaurant incentive. 14. Refunds are not available in any circumstances. 15. Lost Annual Passes should be reported to The Merlin Entertainments Group immediately. 16. In the event of a lost Annual Pass, The Merlin Entertainments Group will re-issue a replacement Annual Pass. Up to three replacement Annual Passes can be issued during the Validity Period. New Annual Passes will only be issued at the original issuing Attraction. An administration fee of £10 will be charged for the re-issue of each lost Annual Pass. 17. Once an Annual Pass reaches its expiry date: 17.1. if you have paid for the Annual Pass upfront you have eight weeks within which to renew it in order to qualify for the reduced renewal rate; or 17.2. if you have paid for the Annual Pass by instalments your Annual Pass will automatically renew for another year unless you have given to the issuing Attraction not less than 30 days before the expiry date notice of your intention to cancel the Annual Pass. 18. Height, weight, size and age restrictions and medical warnings apply to certain rides and attractions. Some rides at LEGOLAND Windsor will require visitors who only just meet the minimum height requirements to be accompanied by a person aged 16 years or over. Alton Towers Spa: Terms and Conditions
Please be aware we do ask you to arrive for your treatment at least 10 minutes before your scheduled time. This time is for you to prepare yourself for your treatment. Swimwear is required if you are visiting our Aqua Relaxation Rooms. Towels, robes and slippers are provided. £1 is needed for a locker (refundable)

The Alton Towers Spa is open to over 16s only, with the exception of those on our Spa Bliss package.
Cancellation policy - Guests who book spa packages will be asked to pay a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking. Full payment will be taken if less than 24 hours is given for a cancellation or non arrival on the day. Kids Eat For Free Terms and Conditions
One voucher per child. Offer is only available between 5:30pm and 6:30pm in The Secret Garden Restaurant and 5:00pm and 6:30pm in Flambo's Exotic Feast. Reservations must be made no later than 11am on the day of the stay. In The Secret Garden Restaurant, one child meal free when purchased with a full price main meal from the menu.
