Standard Parking

Standard Parking is charged at £6.00 for Theme Park Guests.

Premium Merlin Passholders, Premium Season Passholders and on-site hotel guests get free Standard Parking.

Standard Parking is between 15-25 minutes walk to the Theme Park Entrance.

Express Parking

Express Parking is charged at £18.00 for Theme Park Guests (MUST be booked in advance online.)

Premium Merlin Passholders get Express Parking for £12.00. CBeebies Land Hotel Guests get free Express Parking. (Hotel booking confirmation must be shown.)

Express Parking is a 1-3 minute walk away from the Theme Park Entrance.

Disabled Parking

Disabled Parking is charged at £6.00.

Merlin Premium Passholders and on-site hotel guests are not charged for Disabled Parking (Subject to Blue Badge being presented)

Disabled Parking is cash only. No card payments can be taken for this car park. Any guests without cash must use Standard Parking.

A current and valid Blue Badge must be presented, with badge holder present in the vehicle which is requesting disabled parking. Only one vehicle is permitted to park on Disabled Parking per blue badge. Disabled Parking is subject to availability and is unable to be pre-booked.

How do I get to the Alton Towers Resort car park?

Road signage and traffic signals will direct you to all of our car parks. 


How do I get to the Theme Park from the car park?

You can either walk to the Theme Park entrance, as directed by signage across all car parks. You can also catch the Resort Monorail. This will take you from the Hotels and car parks, to the Entrance Plaza. The monorail runs from park opening, through until an hour after the advertised ride close.


How do I buy my car park ticket?

Standard Parking can be purchased from Ticket Sales and Collections (Cash, Card and Contactless), Car Park Machines (Cash and Card) or The Resort Box Office (Cash, Card and Contactless). 
Express Parking must be paid for online, in advance. There are very limited spaces available, and these often sell out in advance.
Disabled Parking can't be pre-booked, and is cash only. There are very limited amounts of Disabled Parking spaces, and are first come, first served.

A valid car park ticket is required to leave the car park, with barrier systems in place.


I can't find my car / My car won't start. What can I do?

Our friendly Admissions Team will be on hand throughout the day to assist you with questions and queries. We will make every effort to assist you in finding your car, and if you remember a description of where you parked, and the time you parked, we will be able to assist you further.

If your car won't start, you may need to get in touch with your insurance company or breakdown cover. Remember: Our car parks are large, so it may be beneficial to leave your hazards on to assist with your breakdown cover finding you.


We operate traffic management throughout the day. Road signage and traffic signals may change to assist with the flow of traffic. Please ensure you are adhering to all road signage, traffic signals, and the instructions of our team.

Latest information regarding Coronavirus

Further to recent updates from the Government on the response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we have taken the very difficult decision to close Alton Towers Resort until further notice.

Have a short break booked when the Resort is closed?
Following the latest Government guidelines (issued on 10th May), and given the continued uncertainty about when we will be able to reopen, we are now asking guests with short breaks booked between 1st June up to and including 3rd July to move your booking free of charge. Please see the FAQs below for information about how to do this. Our teams will be moving bookings in date order, so please bear with us. We will get back to you as fast as we can, but we must prioritise guests whose reservations are imminent.

Have a Park ticket pre-booked when the Resort is closed?
Guests with pre-booked theme park tickets for dates when the Alton Towers Theme Park is closed will be able to use their tickets on any other day during the 2020 theme park season (excluding Fireworks events on 6th, 7th and 8th November). Further information for guests with pre-booked and promotional tickets will be published on our website prior to opening.
